Lump on neck: There are various glands, lymph nodes, and muscles in specific places along the front and sides of the neck. It can be any one of those - and it's more prominent when lying down because of how gravity is affecting the skin and subcutaneous tissues. It's impossible to know what it is without an exam, however.
