Replacing hormones.: Sheehan's syndrome is a rare condition also known as pituitary apoplexy/ischemic stroke in cases of severe postpartum hemorrhage. If the acute event results in chronic hypopituitarism, then adequate hormone replacement and close care by an adult endocrinologist are warranted to avoid severe or even life-threatening complications. Prevention is paramount, with proper perinatal care.
