Hb does not lower with aging. For a lady, lower limit of Hb is around 12.0 +/-0.2 g/dL (the limits vary by laboratories). Your Hb is slightly below the lower limit so you may have mild anemia. However, one number can't make the diagnosis so your doctor may have it repeated in a month or so if this low number is a new finding. A complete CBC is important for a correct interpretation. Good luck.

Your Hb is borderline low normal. Such values cannot be interpreted out of context and your primary care doc will be best to place them in proper context and dynamics by comparing with previous values and overall circumstances, known conditions and current treatment, unexplained symptoms, etc.
