A member asked:

Doctor has stopped my escitalopram, gave me hydroxyzine. can this cause problems?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hydroxyzine is an older antihistamine medication often used for anxiety and heightened arousal due to the side effects of the drug which can include mild drowsiness and generalized weakness. This can make patients feel more relaxed in stressful situations. Headache, dry mouth and nausea may also occur. Serious side effects are rare and other symptoms may be due to stopping the escitalopram.
