A member asked:

I have tmj and after extraction of a tooth i had pain in one ear. dr said no infection but wanted me use ear drops i went to audiologist and he said to use a homeopathic ear drop for pain. is this wise?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The nerves wiring the sensitivity/pain for the ear drum, jaw joint & teeth are often overlapping in their distribution & can give rise to poor localizing for a problems origin. A simple Ibuprofen product or moist heat applied as tolerated may give good results. If there is no ear canal issue I see no benefit of drops other than to give you something to do.
