Yes metal cutlery can damage enamel if you are rough with your usage. As hard as enamel is, it can still be damaged. Sugar metabolized in the mouth into acid is probably much more common as a cause of enamel loss. Sugar sweetened soda and sticky sweets are ideal for destroying enamel

Enamel is more durable than metal utensils used properly, but trauma from improper use, chewing on ice/hard candy/bones caandue damage to enamel. But the most destructive thing is improper oral hygiene. Talk to y9our Dentist about cleaning properly, especially between teeth.
