A member asked:

I am a 50 yr old female. mild calcification seen in abdominal aorta. should i be concerned?

I assume you don't smoke. ? Family history of cardiovascular disease. This represents arteriosclerosis despite being relatively young& occurs in only 16% of women age 50. I recommend being checked for risk factors such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes. I also recommend an ultrasound of your carotid arteries &an EKG as well as a treadmill stress test.
