A member asked:

I see the ortho surgeon next month i wanted to expedite things by seeing if my regular doctor would send me for an mri prior the surgeon's office said the doctor can tell from an x-ray and symptoms if i need surgery would you agree with this? tx?

It is routine for the ortho surgeon to want an MRI to augment a physical exam to define the need & detail the approach to surgery. Whether you do it before or after your initial Ortho visit is a logistical one. If you can have the study complete before the visit it speeds up the process.
