Taking magnesium at bedtime may improve sleep in some individuals. Magnesium glycinate is the product typically used for sleep. One must be careful selecting the magnesium product - there are other forms of magnesium out there. For example, if a person were to take magnesium citrate instead, it would likely produce a bowel movement within an hour or two accompanied by considerable urgency.
