I've been dealing with night sweats for about 8 months. i sleep shirtless with shorts and i wake up in the middle of the night sweating on my chest and legs. are there any tests i can take to determine what's been causing the night sweats?

First and maybe most important, take (and record) your temperature 3-4 times a day for a few days, including bedtime and when you wake up sweating. Classical night sweats result when fever breaks during the night. There are many possible causes; in-person evaluation is necessary. See a doctor, ideally an internal medicine specialist, with your temperature record and take it from there. Good luck.
