What causes erythema in the gastroesophageal junction. can you be caused by barrets. endoscopy never mentioned z line. says erythema in antrum and body of stomach to. thank you. do they say on endoscopy if they see barrets?

They typically will say on endoscopy that there is suspicion for Barrett’s esophagus but this is confirmed with biopsies taken at the time of the endoscopy. Erythema just means redness and this can be caused by inflammation from any cause, including reflux, infection, etc. The GI doctor will likely treat you for gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) to avoid complications of long-standing GERD.
