A member asked:

My 5.5 year old has astigmatism with 0.75 diopter in one eye and 1 diopter in the other eye. does she need glasses now to correct or , as she grows, it will improve?

This may improve some with age and this difference in the 2 eyes does not meet criteria for referral/glasses. If there is more difference in the 2 eyes, it would. The brain can decide to quit processing the input from the weaker eye & cause problems. Get the kid screened yearly to make sure this does not become a problem. If the difference increases it takes years for the problem to occur.
