A member asked:

Ive been menstrual bleeding for 11 days. i usually only have a three to five day period. what could be wrong and when should i call a doctor?

As a first precaution, do a pregnancy test. If it is negative, much of the time you can wait through this cycle to see if it is a recurring problem or not, but you should see a doctor if you are having other symptoms also. A lot of things can affect your periods, including various medications and birth control, and the duration is not as significant as the amount and character of the bleeding.
