A member asked:

Would a contrasted brain mri (not mra) be able to raise suspicions of a dural fistula or are additional scans still needed if mri was completely clear?

A contrasted brain MRI can help raise suspicions of a dural fistula, but additional scans may still be needed if the MRI results are completely clear. A dural fistula is an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein within the protective covering of the brain (dura mater). It can cause symptoms such as pulsatile tinnitus, headaches, and neurological deficits.
