My grandson 16 has new onset epilepsy prescribed levetiracetam maximum dose.he is still having seizures but have moved from morning to afternoon since the drugs.he has them every 2 months. so not more frequent.should he try a different drug? thanks?

Ask your primary care physician for a referral to a neurology physician for an exam and guidance of your grandson,, as other studies (CT, MRI) may be necessary to determine the cause.

The appropriate goal is 100% control of all epileptic seizures. If the current regimen is not fully ideal, a second medication should be added, not switched yet. A second opinion might be helpful at this point.
