A member asked:

If i have spikes and sharp waves on my eeg - does that mean i have seizures and epilepsy? my doctor put me on keppra (levetiracetam) 1000mg. a day.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Perhaps: I gather that your episodes of loss of consciousness are considered consistent with epileptic seizures, and the eeg showed the activity, which was interpreted as consistent with "epileptiform activity". Discuss all of this with your neurologist, and make sure that the underlying causation has been confirmed. At age 61, risk factors for brain atherosclerosis should be addressed fully.
