A member asked:

If both ovaries, tubes and uterus removed 7yrs ago but now have adnexal masses does that indicate that tissue must have been left behind? are there any circumstances where the tissue could be reabsorbed? if so what/how? thanks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If "adnexal masses" are now detected by ultrasound, contact the physician who performed the surgery ("hysterectomy and removal of tubes and ovaries") and ask for a copy of the pathology report to make certain both ovaries were removed. If the adnexal masses are complex, ovarian tissue may be the cause, and your GYN physician may need to perform a biopsy.
