It is not a contraindication for using methotrexate with history of HSV-2 related genital herpes. There is not any reliable study regarding the severity of HSV 2 reactivation with methotrexate use that I have known of. One study recommends NOT checking HSV titers before initiating treatment with methotrexate. Good luck with your treatment.
