How do i know if the random sharp chest pains on right side of chest (slightly above nipple) on my ab is muscle pain or something more serious. has started to occur and pain flares up every so often regardless of exercising, sitting, or resting?

See your doctor and get a physical exam along with an EKG. If it is chest wall pain, the physical exam will reveal that. If it is at all related to your heart, your EKG will be abnormal. If there is some other etiology, like GI reflux, there are other tests diagnose other issues. So, see your doctor for evaluation/treatment. Good luck!
