If PEP doesn't work to prevent HIV, it can delay positive test results. However, there are no precise data on how long it can take. For the standard AgAb (4th generation, "combo") blood tests, most experts advise they are conclusive at 6 weeks, but some recommend 3 months. Note that this is after last dose of drug, not from the date of exposure. Time since exposure can be as long as 4 months.
