Mesh: In this day and age, mesh is considered far superior to non-mesh repairs, and the primary reason is recurrence rates. The recurrence rates with mesh repair are much lower than without mesh.

Usually mesh: Mesh repair of an inguinal hernia has a lower recurrence rate and usually less pain than a primary repair. However, it has a slightly higher risk of infection.
