Maybe, but...: The most difficult complication of groin hernia repair to manage is chronic postherniorrhaphy pain, defined as persistent groin pain that lasts > 3 - 6 months after hernia repair. It occurs in up to 10% - 12%. The cause may be related to nerve injury/entrapment, scar tissue formation, or reaction to the prosthetic material. It is important to exclude hernia recurrence before making this dianosis.
