Good question: Polyclonal refers to a generalized increase in lymph cells, as opposed to a single clone of cells which is what cancer (lymphoma) is. This diagnosis is rare, usually is seen in women, often smokers, and may be associated with exposure to epstein barr virus. The long term risks of the disorder are unknown. The is rare enough that i would have the pathology reviewed at a university hospital.
