The earliest sign of leptospirosis is usually a high fever, often accompanied by chills, headache, muscle aches, and sometimes vomiting or diarrhea. These symptoms can appear anywhere from 2 days to 4 weeks after exposure to the bacteria. Others: red eyes, rash, fatigue, nausea, cough, chest discomfort, trouble breathing, yellowing of skin (jaundice)
