A member asked:

Im 45 and my periods have always been regular. i have now got my period day 17 of cycle, so 10 days early. is this a cause for concern? or is this the start of perimenopause?

At age "44", as eggs age they require increased stimulation to ovulate, causing higher levels of estrogen, and withdrawal bleeding may occur at ovulation. See your GYN physician, who may suggest oral bcp's, not specifically for "birth control", but to stop ovarian hormone production, and ease the transition through pre-menopause.
