Most of the time such sharp,shooting pains are emanating from superficial scalp nerves and not from the brain itself. These irritable nerves aren't anything serious, are more of a nuisance and symptoms usually resolve on their own within a day or so. Some refer to these fleeting pains as neuralgia. If symptoms persist or worsen, see your physician or a neurologist for evaluation & advice.
