Someone i have to be with almost daily for long periods of time eats and smacks and chews in a absolutely disgusting manner. loud clicking and clacking for hours on end. he said he quit smoking. could this be why? it is the most obnoxious thing. ty?

Have this person see a dentist for an exam. The teeth are probably out of alignment as well as some missing, causing this noise. A normal bite will not cause these symptoms. Also ill fitting dentures will cause the clicking noise, a complete dental exam and possible new or a initial denture is indicated. Smoking or non smoking have nothing to do with this habit.
