There is really no way to know what this discomfort is from without being evaluated by a doctor. It could be a musculoskeletal issue but, if the discomfort is similar to when you had a kidney stone, it could be a kidney stone. There are many other possibilities as well. Classic kidney stone passing downward causes severe midback pain when the stone moves. Pain does radiate to the flank & down the lower abdomen toward the groin. Either overt or microscopic bleeding occurs. A urinalysis detects the microscopic red blood cells. Your MD will evaluate & advise you if a stone is a possibility & will order tests like CT scan or ultrasound. Drink fluid& screen urine
