Serologic testing for HPV does not inform clinical decisions and is not commercially available. Diagnosis of HPV infection is currently based on detection of viral nucleic acid (DNA or RNA).

Doctors generally do not misinform patients or claim any thing. There is no 'test' for sero-prevalance it is an incidence of a disease as measured by random testing of a population. There is a lot of misinformation on the internet which at times confuses people. If you ask a specific question your doc will answer it factually.
