It could. Did the doc mention doing possible upper endoscopy- which may help find the problem?

Your symptoms sound to be more related to the upper digestive tract. A conservative approach to treating it, perhaps with a trial of acid suppression initially, is very common. If you do not achieve any relief, however, x-rays or an upper endoscopy to look at the upper digestive tract may be necessary. Good luck.
