A member asked:

Are memory b cells and plasma cells responsible for persistent production of treponemal antibodies even after disease cure? why do they continue to produce antibodies? do these immune cells behave similarly in other cured infections also?

Antibody persists for many years, often for life, for the large majority of infections, even if the causative bacteria or virus is entirely eradicated. Syphilis is not unusual in this regard. The exact cells producing antibody doesn't matter.
