A member asked:

How safe are nsaids for arthritis pain in someone who has high blood pressure, tachycardia and diabetes (all well controlled by medication) and pvcs (somewhat controlled). i know nsaids can increase stroke and heart attack risk?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

We're continually reminded that even mild NSAID use leads to cardiovascular issues like congestive heart failure down the road. This is especially so in elderly people. Nevertheless millions of people take them. I haven't seen immediate cardiovascular problems in your age group. Nevertheless, I caution people with hypertension to avoid NSAID use as a general rule.
