I take 25 mg of elavil which took away my nerve pain. i hate get off of it as it works. however, my mind is not peaceful. i feel blah. should i go on another pill to help with my mind like prozac, triavil or etrafon?

It is not advised to add another antidepressant to Elavil (Nortriptyline) due to the increased risk of Serotonin Syndrome, sedation, or confusion, esp at your age. A few options: (1) switch to Lyrica (recommended); (2) switch to Neurontin; or (3) reduce Elavil dose to 10 mg.

As already mentioned, your best outcome would involve switching medications. Would not recommend any of your listed medications for someone at age 83. Drugs such as Lyrica, Cymbalta, or Neurontin will likely work better with fewer adverse effects.
