A member asked:

I had an mri done on my left knee and one of the findings was a tiny partial thickness cartilage defect over the median ridge of the patella. im just wondering what that means? ill be making an appointment with an orthopedic soon?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The doctor that ordered the MRI would have a plan if there were abnormal results. Best to followup with them. Partial thickness cartilage defect does not heal on its own however there are procedures that an orthopedic surgeon does (at least ones that specialize in cartilage repair) to help the cartilage repair.
