A member asked:

Thyroid us shows a englargd right lobe with a 4.7cm x 2.7cm nodule.heterogenous with mixed solid and cystic areas.wider than tall mostly smooth with i'll defined areas.what does it mean if it has increased intranodular and peripheral? lump front neck?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Intranodular refers to the area within the nodule as opposed to the periphery of the nodule. This is both a large & complex thyroid nodule with both & cystic components. In view of these 2 characteristics, I believe surgical removal will be advised. I strongly recommend consulting a head and neck surgeon with expertise in thyroid surgery. Your endocrinologist will also advise you.
