What does it mean to have low granulocyte of 40?

I assume the number 40 means 40%. Granulocytes include neutrophils, basophils and eosinophils so we need to know the percentage and absolute number of each line. Commonly, we see a low granulocyte count (granulocytonenia) when a patient has high lymphocyte count such as during an acute viral disease. For a correct interpretation of a lab result, patient's medical history is necessary. Good luck.
