Petechiae are small, pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin that occur due to bleeding under the skin. They can occur due to various reasons, including mild irritation, infections, medications, and underlying medical conditions. While amyloidosis is one of the possible causes of petechiae, it is not the only explanation. Amyloidosis is a rare disease that occurs when abnormal protein build up.
