Let me explain: You have stress fracture in the foot? If it is stress fracture should heal when stop stressing the area which it 6-8 weeks. May be he is talking about something else?

A year??: I have never seen or heard of a stress fracture take that long unless you have an autoimmune disease. We're you splinted, in cast or walking boot? Time for another opinion . Are you sure it was a stress fracture?

Healing may vary: Different people may have different healing times depending on the location of the fracture, the age, the general health, level of offloading. Generally bone takes 4 to 8 weeks to heal under ideal conditions.
