A member asked:

I had a really bad reaction to ssris and experienced mania/psychosis and 3 days of intrusive/aggressive thoughts that have gone now. if i shared this with my psychiatrist would they have me admitted to a hospital or just help me sort my meds out??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Most manic episodes may actually require hospitalization. Harming oneself due to delusions/hallucinations and sleep deprivation are common reasons for patient deaths during these episodes. Do contact your psychiatrist. If not having active mania, you most likely won't be referred to the hospital. You may want to discuss the benefits of a mood stabilizer, and put that SSRI in your intolerance list
