Hello. i wanted to know if syphilis would ever go away. the nurse yesterday told me id forever test positive because being 1-2. also can you smoke while taking doxycycline?

Marijuana and nicotine in cigarettes will not interfere with the doxycycline. However if you want to give your body the best chance possible to recover from the infection you are probably best to avoid both until you have recovered. cdc.gov/std/syphilis/treatment.htm

Syphilis is cured by the proper antibiotics, usually 1-3 injections of long-acting penicillin, but doxycycline for 2-4 weeks (depending on the stage of syphilis) also is 100% effective. Some types of syphilis blood test remain positive for life, but a positive result will not mean you still have it. You know smoking is unhealthful, please try to stop. But doxycycline doesn't make smoking worse.
