Had hemorrhoidectomy 5 days ago. became impacted 2 days ago. impaction resolved on its own in bathroom of er waiting room and on call surgeon told me i could go home. since then, i've had diarrhea and some dark red blood in stool. is this normal?

No unless you have hemorrhoids. Trust they looked. Irf not you or someone can look. Take a picture and show to Dr. If they did not look shame on them.
