You should have iron studies done before you take any iron. You don’t want to take too much iron, especially if you don’t need it as this can cause problems as well. You could take a multivitamin with iron in it as this contains smaller amounts of iron than an iron supplement, Your doctor can check your iron levels as well as a hemoglobin level to see if you have iron deficiency anemia.
