There are many causes of white spots on the tonsils, but not necessarily HIV. Viral infections, strep, and other bacteria can cause this. It also may not be an infection. Being out in the rain would not cause this and although not a typical sign of a cold, depending on the virus causing the “cold” it is possible. Please see your doctor to be properly diagnosed and to get the best advice.
