A member asked:

I am 42 years old. please what do i have to do avoid ever getting it? i learned that a high percentage of men at some point suffer from prostate cancer. is it hereditary? is it true that it is mostly associated with men that are promiscuous?

Promiscuity can lead to STD'S, HIV and HPV. Safe sex and yearly check ups on your prostate will keep you from developing cancer. Most prostate cancers develop after 50 years of age.

The incidence increases with age and it can run in families. It is not related to promiscuity. There is nothing known so far to avoid getting it. We are prone to many illnesses and the best we can do is to lead a healthy life,- exercise, eat a healthy diet and get regular checks of our prostate after the age of 45yrs. Enjoy life and worry less. Good luck
