I've had a bad cold for a week. found a sore in my mouth 2 days ago. could the cause be cough drops or the cold virus? should i be concerned?

Wait and see: A common cold wouldn't likely cause a sore in the mouth by itself, but you could have a flare up of apthous ulcers for example if you have a history of them. If the sore is not painful or bothersome, you can wait to see if it resolves within a few days. If it persists beyond 2 weeks, see a doctor for an evaluation. If your cold doesn't improve, see a physician for a definitive diagnosis.

No concern: It is common to get sores in your mouth after having a cold. Usually canker sores (apthous ulcer) can appear when you immune system is low from battling illness. Sometimes other viruses will breakout during this time too. They normally will go away in a week to ten days. Take care of yourself.
