That is not uncommon and does not mean there is brain injury by itself. Headaches that can be severe can arise for the week or so after incidental head trauma as described. If this has produced memory loss, loss of equilibrium, dizziness, etc. see your doc.

As already mentioned, it is not unique to have a head injury with subsequent post-traumatic headaches. This may be a chronic issue if the headaches become daily and are associated with dizziness, nausea, and vomiting, visual blurring, or doubling.
