A member asked:

What is the most difficult part about treating graves disease? do you have recommendations for people who are high risk for graves disease on ways they can minimize their risk?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Grave's disease is caused by a malfunction of the body's immune system. It is not known why this happens and therefore cannot be prevented. Graves's disease is lifelong once present and the most difficult issue with treatment is getting the right dose of medication to keep the thyroid hormones close to normal as possible.
