Dear doctors - can you get anal/rectal symptoms of mgen (or other sti) without anal sex? in other words, can you get proctitis even though the entry point was the penis? my healthcare provider says not, but it isnt clear on the web. thanks?

Your HCP is correct. Males cannot get anal or rectal STI (including M genitalium) or STI symptoms except by receptive anal sex. It can happen in women because the anus is easily contaminated with vaginal fluid, but not in men without anal sexual exposure. Nothing that causes rectal infection, with or without proctitis, can travel from the penis to the rectum.
