Sexual activity increases the risk of UTI but lower UTI may occur without sex in female. You need a thorough work up if the diagnosis of recurrent lower UTI (bladder infection or cystitis) is confirmed with urinalysis and urine culture besides the symptoms. The infection needs to be defined as recurrent or relapsed. You should be referred to a urologist +/- infectious disease doctor. Take care.

UTI s are not limited to sexually active women - just a little more common in them. Drink plenty of water and if they keep recurring pl see a Urologist
