Since it may be spread to another person via direct contact, try to avoid the specific area where it is located, and have him be treated by his dermatologist for this infection

This condition is not passed in saliva, so kissing itself is not a risk of spread. The spores of the fungus involved can spread to you if you come in contact with the spores/site where he has his ring worm. Just avoid the site & you will be fine. If he starts simple treatment with an antifungal cream it becomes less contagious quickly.
